Description

Potassium Soft Soap in Agriculture

Okynol SM is a special Potassium Soft Soap, a natural product belonging to the category of Corroborants, a type of product different from fertilizers and agrochemicals, which have the function of enhancing the plant's natural defenses against phytopathogenic agents and activating direct and indirect mechanisms at the molecular level, to allow the plant to resist and adapt to stress.

The Potassium Soft Soap is obtained by saponification with potash of vegetable oils extracted from the seeds of some plants (Rapeseed, Sunflower, Soy, etc.) and is one of the few alternatives to compounds that remain in the soil and can contaminate groundwater: it is the ideal product for those who want to keep plants clean without using chemicals.

The Potassium Soft Soap Okynol SM is allowed in Organic and Integrated Agriculture.

What is Potassium Soft Soap used for?

Unlike chemical counterparts, Potassium Soft Soap does not increase resistance to pesticides because its mechanism of action is purely mechanical and not chemical.

In addition to improving plant resistance to biotic and abiotic stress, Okynol SM:

  • in combination with insecticides, it acts as a wetting and adhesive agent, to ensure the homogeneous distribution and coverage of the phytoprotective veil of Corroborants, Fertilizers or Phytopharmaceuticals applied for the protection of Olive, Vine, Vegetable Crops or Fruits.
  • (at a concentration of 2 - 3%) it has an indirect action against Sooty Mold, as it dissolves the honeydew produced by insects.
  • it can be useful in the indirect control of Whiteflies, Cabbage Aphid and especially Scale Insects, as their chitinous coating is dissolved by the action of the soap; these unprotected insects die of dehydration.
  • (at a concentration of 0.2 - 0.5%) it helps the adhesiveness of most phytosanitary products, enhancing their action.

Advantages of Potassium Soft Soap

  • It is composed of completely biodegradable natural ingredients that are non-polluting and harmless to humans and animals;
  • It improves production by strengthening natural defenses against insects;
  • Its preventive use eliminates the risk of egg deposition on plants.
  • It does not produce toxic residues or biological changes in the crop;
  • It does not damage the fruit and respects beneficial fauna.

How to use Potassium Soft Soap?

To prepare the mixture, we recommend dissolving the Potassium Soft Soap Okynol SM in warm water.

Potassium Soft Soap is applied to plants so that the entire leaf surface is completely wet.

It can be used as an adjuvant for antiparasitic treatments with a wetting function at a percentage of 0.2% - 0.5%, 200 - 500 grams per hectoliter, or as a biological remedy against honeydew from sucking insects with dosages between 2% and 3% (use volumes of water of at least 1000-1500 liters per hectare).

It is advisable to avoid the use of Potassium Soft Soap during flowering, as it could hinder the pollinating function of pollinating insects.

It is not compatible with copper-based products such as Bordeaux Mixture, nor with very hard water due to excessive presence of Calcium, Magnesium, and metal ions.

In the soil, it degrades rapidly.

Dosage

As an adjuvant
for wetting function in antiparasitic treatments, use the dose of 200-500 gr per hectoliter
As a biological remedy: 2 - 3 Kg/hl
in the control of honeydew-producing sucking insects, such as aphids, whiteflies, scale insects, thrips, etc., use dosages ranging from 2% to 3%. Use water volumes of at least 1000-1500 liters per hectare
